The 'The Simple Things or Maybe Not' short series on my Youtube channel begins with this realization of the self episode, 'As simple as being yourself.' As simple as it sounds, this might be difficult to attain in the real world. In a world where we are encouraged to be many things, to aspire, to succeed, to positively influence, and to achieve goals. These are good ways to live a fulfilled life for sure, but not to the detriment of being oneself.
You might have heard the saying by Oscar Wilde ‘Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.’ Indeed, everyone else is taken, including you. You are specially created for a purpose and to bring solutions to problems. This is how important you are!
At the beginning of the new year, most people make resolutions. If you are one of those, perhaps you might need to add, BE me, Be authentic. Being yourself makes you a winner, cool, and incredible. As simple as that, or maybe not? The world will tell you to be many things, including social media, but be YOURSELF first.
Unfortunately, most people have caved into another’s identity because they feel incapable of themselves. Yes, we all at some point wish we were someone else. I wish I could be her, or him, I wish that was me, I wish I had that. It is okay to admire others but try not to envy them, to a point that you get resentful of them.

14-16. The New International Version
14 ‘I praise you because I am
fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.
15 My frame was not hidden from you
when I was made in the secret place,
when I was woven together in the depths of the
earth.
16 Your eyes saw my unformed body;
all the days ordained for me were written in your
book
before one of them came to be.
God made you, YOU!
Perhaps you are asking, why do I have to be myself? 5 things for you to think about.
1. You are special. The many translations of the scripture available are very well capable of explaining this better than I can ever find the words. In Luke 12:7b NLT 'So don’t be afraid; you are more valuable to God than a whole flock of sparrows.' The MESSAGE: 'So don't be intimidated by all this bully talk. You're worth more than a million canaries.' Lastly, The Amplified version amplifies 'Do not be afraid; you are far more valuable than many sparrow
2. You have power and control when you are yourself, I mean your original self, not a photocopy.
4. Everyone experiences your authenticity.
5. God knows you, and you can make Him proud
You have been made to be different for a purpose, please do not let nothing destroy your purpose.
However, please I need you to remember this, everything you are, do, or think must glorify the Father.
If you feel that the ‘YOU’ right now does not glorify God, ask Him to change you to whom He desires you to be. In fact, everyone should be praying this prayer every day, until we are daily transformed.
